"Colorless & Akoii" Split Cassette
Artwork & Layout by Abbas Khorasani & Marc Kozminski
Side A: Nobuhiro Okahashi's "Colorless"
An ethereal treat; "Colorless" uses its soft voices to take the form of a sonic dream anchored by sparse found sounds, filling out the track's ambiance. Although soft in texture, at times the music seems as if it pushes the edge of the boundary of sound as medium, and it crackles and hums with radiant energy below its surface.
Side B: Abbas Khorasani's "Akoii"
"Akoii" is the dark droner supreme when contrasted with the meditative buoyancy of "Colorless." The track opens with cascading synth, a minimal broach of the abstract format, and slowly descends into crisp delay-driven drone. The melodically sparse and austere tonality of the second half could best be described as the slow crawl towards madness.
